Drug agents check mail to home of Indians' Perez

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (AP) ? Drug agents are investigating a narcotics delivery to the home of Cleveland Indians closer Chris Perez.

Rocky River Police Chief Kelly Stillman said city officers in the Cleveland suburb, a regional narcotics unit and postal inspectors were involved in Tuesday's operation investigating a delivery to the Perez home.

No charges have been filed and the matter remains under investigation

Indians general manager Chris Antonetti says in a statement that the team has "talked with Chris" and is "gathering additional information."

Manager Terry Francona may address the situation when he speaks to reporters before the Indians' Wednesday afternoon game against the Yankees.

The Indians' often-polarizing closer has six saves this season, but is on the disabled list with an injured right shoulder.

A message seeking comment was left for Perez' attorney.
