Game 7 highest-rated baseball game since 2004
The momentum from the historic Game 6 of the World Series benefitted Fox as Game 7 became the most-watched baseball game since 2004.
The Series-clinching game in which the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers, 6-2, averaged 25.4 million viewers.
It earned the most viewers since the Boston Red Sox made even more history by winning their first World Series title in 86 years against the Cardinals in 2004.
St. Louis' dramatic comeback against Texas in Game 6 likely set the stage for the large audience, by generating a huge buzz. The Cardinals twice came back from two runs down in the ninth and 10th innings in Game 6 -- a first for the World Series -- before winning it in the 11th inning.
